Simply Green
Simply Green
A beautiful Chinese green tea, perfectly dried to preserve its emerald green appearance. A light, grassy, vegetal and mellow green tea, perfect to drink as an everyday favorite tea.
Note on Brewing: The importance of temperature in green tea. Using water that is hotter than 177F can result in a bitter tasting tea. This is due to a higher level of tannins and the fact that the hotter water has “burnt” the tea leaves. If you do not have a thermometer, we recommend pouring the freshly boiled water into a secondary vessel, pouring that water into an empty steeper, and then pouring it back into the vessel. The resulting water should be at near perfect temperature when it is poured once again into the steeper.
Traditional Method of Preparation: Measure 3-5 grams or approximately 1 tsp of loose tea and add to one of our tea filter bags or for best results, add the tea to our Perfect Steeper. Add 8-12 oz of fresh water that has been heated to 170 - 180 F and steep for 2-3 minutes.
Iced Green Tea Preparation:
Cold Brew (Our Favorite): Measure 5 grams or approximately 1 tsp of loose tea and add to your vessel of choice. Add 12 oz of fresh water. Place in refrigerator for 8 hours. Strain to serve. Makes the smoothest cup with the least amount of tannins! Try for yourself and see the difference!
Flash Chilling:
Step 1, Create Concentrate. Measure 5 grams or approximately 1 tsp of loose tea and add to one of our tea filter bags or for best results, add the tea to our Perfect Steeper. Add 6 oz of fresh water that has been heated to 177 F and steep for 3 minutes.
Step 2, Flash Chill. Place finished tea in freezer for 10 minutes or pour slowly over ice in a 12-16 oz cup.
Traditional: Measure 3-5 grams or approximately 1 tsp of loose tea and add to one of our tea filter bags or for best results, add the tea to our Perfect Steeper. Add 8-12 oz of fresh water that has been heated to 170 - 180 F and steep for 2-3 minutes. Store in refrigerator for 3 hours and serve. Shelf life is up to three days.
Café Method: Create Concentrate. Measure 5 grams or approximately 1 tsp of loose tea for every 12oz serving and add to a large strainer or use one of our tea filter bags for every 5 grams of tea. Add 6 oz of fresh water (for every serving) that has been heated to 177 F and steep for 3 minutes. Remove leaves and store in refrigerator overnight. Ready to serve over ice for the next day. Ideally use full 16 oz. glass of ice and dilute with water to taste.
